Meet Allyson Ahlstrom, founder of Threads for Teens, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to helping young, less-fortunate girls build their self-esteem, confidence, and give them hope. Allyson started Threads for Teens in 2010; she was just fourteen-years-old! She has grown this charity into a thriving company that helps girls through gifts of clothing, support, and education. Watch these videos from Disney and Moroccan Oil who are recognizing the work of this entrepreneurial young woman!

Tell us about yourself along with a fun fact!
I am the founder of the nonprofit organization Threads for Teens, a clothing boutique for girls in foster care and group homes. We provide free clothing in an empowering/dignified experience. We have two boutiques in Santa Rosa, CA and San Antonio, TX. Additionally, the past three summers we have toured the United States giving over 4,100 girls a new outfit. My fun fact is that I play the harp!

Someone who inspires you and knowledge they have imparted:
My dad always pushes me to continue to follow my goals. One quote he always tells me is from Sir Winston Churchill, “The Price of Greatness is Responsibility.” From this I get that to be successful in whatever I do, I have to be accountable to myself and do what is necessary/hard to move forward.

Describe a challenge you’ve faced and how you overcame it:
A definite challenge has been choosing what to do next with Threads for Teens! There is not a manual for how to grow a nonprofit organization as a 20 year old. I consistently do what I think/hope to be best. So far, everything has worked out!
I would love to continue working with Threads for Teens, growing the organization to be across the United States and even the world. My goal in life is to continue to empower girls and women, whatever that may entail.
What knowledge would you impart to women in order for them to REIGN their lives?
Absolutely never be afraid to go after your goals!! You are never too young, too old, or too whatever. Just start in the best way that you know how. If you believe in yourself and what you are doing, you will have endless success.
